Malignant Melanoma
If you are wondering what malignant melanoma is and how it affects a person, you must first know what melanoma is. Melanoma is a skin cancer that is not as predominant as most skin cancers, but it one of the most harmful. In general, melanoma is found to have hereditary roots where the cancer risk is embedded in the genes. Melanoma is typically diagnosed in its first stages as a mole like coloration that is not even, lumpy and sometimes bleeding. There are many stages of melanoma and these different stages vary drastically when it comes to treatment.
What is the Difference Between Melanoma and Malignant Melanoma?
There is no difference between when someone uses the term melanoma and malignant melanoma. The reason is simple; melanoma is malignant. If it was just a mole, it would be called a mole or skin discoloration.
If given the opportunity, malignant melanoma can become a very big concern and become fatal. This is why it is very important to stop it when it first appears. If you have a mole that looks irregular and you are not sure, you need to get it checked out as soon as possible. If you allow malignant melanoma to grow, it can spread deeper into your skin and start to affect your lymph nods. It is important to keep an eye on moles to make sure they do not grow or change color or shape. If they have these features, there is a very good chance that these moles are malignant melanoma.
If the malignant melanoma has already spread, you will need to not only get the mole or moles removed, you will also need to take medication prescribed by your doctor. Being that it has spread, there would be good cause to assume it has been deeper rooted. There could also be scar restoration surgery necessary to restore skin cell tissue. This will not only help the scar appearance but will help generate healthy tissue needed to combat the cancer. Regular check up to your doctor will be necessary to make sure the cancer has not returned. If, at the slightest bit, the cancer presents itself, it can be dealt with immediately with a little more treatment.
