Malignant Melanoma Diagnosis
Malignant melanoma diagnosis is possibly one of the most heartbreaking situations to be in. Many people do not know they have melanoma until it is too late. Malignant melanoma is harmful to the existence of a person and if not caught in the first stages within the first year, chances of survival decrease up to about twenty or more percent.
In order to have a malignant melanoma diagnosis, you will need to visit your doctor. You should see a doctor for a malignant melanoma diagnosis if you as suspicious of a mole that has changed or a darkened spot. It is always better to get it checked out than brush it off as it were nothing. The first year is critical.
Malignant melanoma diagnosis first steps:
1. The dark spot is slightly raised
2. A mole has changed colors or shape
3. Area is not defined
4. The spot is not round but asymmetrical
5. The spot is larger, usually greater than 6 millimeters
The malignant melanoma diagnosis will be more favorable if the location of the malignant melanoma was concentrated in one area rather than spread to many. This would mean the person has more than likely caught it in its first year and has not given it chance to deep root itself and cause more problems.
Although during the malignant melanoma diagnosis, they will mention removal, this does not one hundred percent guarantee that the cancer will be cured. The cancer will need to be fully removed and then followed up with roughly every six months. More doctors’ visits might be necessary if the cancer was a higher risk or the doctor was unsure.
When going to get a malignant melanoma diagnosis, it is best to keep an open mind. The first step to a diagnosis is to look at it and collect a sample. After the skin sample is taken, it is then passed on to microscopic observance. This is the only way to truly diagnose malignant melanoma. If your doctor tells you otherwise, you may want to consider getting a second opinion if you are not comfortable with it.
